JIRASAK POR PHONGSAWANG (Career 1980-1990)
The story of boxer Jirasak Por Phongsawang is not trivial. Because he obtained, in three years, the sad record of the greatest number of defeats in the big stadiums of Bangkok, in the history of Muay Thai.
Jirasak has been nicknamed “Phae Amata” (The Immortal Loser) following his 16 straight losses in 1991, 1992 and 1993!
Jirasak has lost 16 times in a row, against great champions all the same. In 1991, he lost in Lumpinee to Panomrunglek Chor Sawat, Phetdam Sor Boonrai and Kukrit Sor Nayayom.
In 1992, in the stadium of Lumpinee, he lost against Orono Por Muang Ubon (2 times), Namphon Nongkeephahuyut (2 times), Chaidetch Sor Prantalay (Defeat by KO), Chanchai Sor Thamrangsit, and in the stadium of Radja against Pairoj Wor Worapol and Jakrsing Sor Rewadee.
In 1993, he lost, in the stadium of Lumpinee, against Wisanlek Lukbangplasoy, in the stadium of Radja, against Boraphet Sitmaet, in the stadium of Omnoi, against Manachai Na Pattaya, Phetrung Sitjomthong and Anupath Sitkhruot.
Usually, when a boxer loses too many fights, promoters no longer call on him for big events. Often the managers in his camp severely reprimand him and may even ask him to leave the camp at times.
But Jirasak had a huge fighter’s heart because all his matches were daunting, the public and the punters liked to see him fight on the rings of the stadiums of Bangkok. So, his camp continued to make him fight and Jirasak honored by his valor in combat his prestigious camp, the Por Phongsawang Gym (Camp of champions Fasang, Toto, Dekdouan, Dokmaipha, Tukatathong, Rambo)!
After his 16 defeats in a row, he won 7 victories and made his last match against the great champion Chanchai Sor Thamrangsit who beat him again.
Jirasak stopped his career at the age of 24 because of serious injuries which no longer allowed him to be at the top of his form. He received good purses during his hard boxing career, up to 100,000 baht, purses which enabled him to buy a house and a nice car. The Eternal Loser has not lost his character as a fighter, calm and serene, he now drives long-distance buses from Bangkok to the provinces.
