BOUGHANEM GYM

BOUGHANEM GYM
Special report by Serge TREFEU (2025)
Legendary champion Youssef Boughanem has just opened a new boxing camp, a magnificent complex that opened its doors at the beginning of 2025.
His Muay Thai camp is located in the Nong Prue district of Bang Lamung, next to a park with a small lake. It is not far from the famous Sityodtong Gym camp. Not to be confused with the Petchsaman Gym, his former camp, which was also in the same district…
Youssef set up this camp in association with his little brother, the famous Yassine Boughanem. The Boughanem brothers welcome you to their Muay Thai camp, a camp suitable for both amateurs and high-level fighters. Training takes place from Monday to Saturday, in the morning from 8 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. and in the afternoon from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Many Muay Thai personalities have already come to train at Boughanem Gym, such as Stéphane Nikiéma, Samy Sana, Cindy Sylvestre, or even the legendary Thai Kongtoranee Payakaroon, who often comes to visit his friend Youssef.

Youssef Boughanem is a true ring prodigy. This fighter has Muay Thai in his blood: he boxes like the Thais, his mastery of the discipline is perfect, and big challenges do not scare him.
Since settling in Thailand, he has not hesitated to face, on their own ground, the best Thai fighters of the moment!
Arriving in Thailand at the age of 17, in 2007, the young Youssef Boughanem had a real “hunger” for combat. He proved his worth by facing great Thai champions.
To do this, he started by training hard in the best camps in the country, such as Jocky Gym, Sor Weetapun, Muangsima Gym and Kietpetch Gym. It is in the famous camp of promoter Chun Kietpetch, Kietpetch Gym, that Youssef Boughanem made a name for himself in the Muay Thai world in Thailand. He stayed there for more than a year and fought several times under the name of Youssef Kietpetch.
Then, he continued his journey in the Pattaya region, where he trained at the Sitpolek Gym as well as within the Team Nikiéma Muay Thai Academy, led by Master Nikiéma.
With the strength of his fists, Youssef Boughanem has built a reputation in the Kingdom of Siam, becoming one of the most respected foreign fighters by Thais.
Youssef Boughanem (Lumpinee Champion, Radja Champion, Omnoi Champion, WBC World Champion, WKN World Champion, ISKA World Champion, IBF World Champion, Phoenix World Champion, WAKO K1 World Champion, winner of the Thai Fight tournament, winner of the Max Muay Thai tournament, winner of the 1-King tournament) is nicknamed “Terminator”.
He has an exceptional track record, with more than 200 professional fights to his credit. Most of his fights have taken place in Thailand, both in the provinces and in Bangkok, in the prestigious stadiums of Lumpinee, Radja, TV7 and Omnoi. Youssef Boughanem is the first foreigner in the world to have won the belt of the Omnoi stadium in 2015, one of the largest stadiums in the Bangkok region. But the Moroccan-Belgian has done even better by also seizing the belt of the legendary Ratchadamnoen stadium. In August 2016, he beat the title holder Kompetlek Lookprabat by KO.
He is also one of the few foreigners to have won the Thai Fight tournament. On December 31, 2015, he defeated the star Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee in the final, thus winning the Thai Fight belt in -72.5 kg.
On May 22, 2018, Youssef Boughanem became the fourth foreigner in the world to win the belt of the Lumpinee stadium in Bangkok. That day, he faced Thalaithong Sor Thanaphet (TV7 Champion, Thailand Champion), then Lumpinee champion in 154 lbs.
The Lumpinee title fight took place in the 160 lbs category. Youssef Boughanem and the Thai delivered an extremely intense match, but Thalaithong was stopped by the referee in the fourth round against the destructive fury of the Terminator Youssef Boughanem.
He is the only foreigner to have won three belts from the major stadiums in Bangkok: the Omnoi stadium belt in 2015, the Radja stadium belt in 2016 and the Lumpinee stadium belt in 2018. No other foreigner has accomplished such a feat in Thailand. Only a handful of Thai champions have managed to win these three major belts at once. Youssef Boughanem has thus entered the history of Muay Thai as one of its greatest champions!

His little brother, Yassine Boughanem, is also a ring phenomenon with an impressive record. He was WBC world champion, PHOENIX world champion, WPMF world champion, WKN world champion, WKPL world champion, Pattaya Boxing Stadium world champion, and winner of the Super Muay Thai tournament.
Nicknamed “Choco”, he is a superb fimeuu (technician), which is quite rare in the heavyweight category.
This extraordinary champion has spent most of his career in Thailand. At only 21 years old, he had already fought 150 fights.
His record is 167 fights for 126 victories. He has beaten formidable Thai fighters like Bernueng Topkingboxing, Panom Topkingboxing, Kiatchai Singwancha, Karuhat Eakchumpon, Dejrit Poptheeratham and Benz RSM, as well as foreign champions such as Mike Sityodtong (KO), Thomas Alizier, Emmanuel Payet, Malik Aliane (KO), Yuksel Ayaydin, Sami Bachar, Daniel Sam and Steven Banks!
