Serge TREFEU: Hello Rosalie, you grew in Holland in which city ?
ROSALIE BERGHUIS In Breskens
Why are you go living in Thailand ?
I moved with my parents in 2003, easy step for me because I love muaythai
How did you discover the Muay Thai ?
I started with Judo when I was 6 years old, and after we came to holiday to Thailand and when I saw the first time muaythai, I wanted to do the same ! and I looked for a gym in Thailand and started to train.
You started to fight towards which age ?
Training when 12 and my first fight was when I was 13 years old in Thailand.
Did you fight in Holland ?
Yes but not so many times because I moved when I was 16 to Thailand and in the juniors not easy to get good fight, I also don’t like to fight with protection.
How much do you have fights, wins and losses ?
26 fight, 20 wins (12 KO), 5 loss, 1 Draw
Which is your best fight, until today ?
Against May Tenille (World Champion WMC) from Australia, it was a very technique fight ! We both fought very smart to make points
And your hardest fight ?
Against Nuenzian she is a very well known fighter of Thailand ! Her technique is amazing ! the first 3 round I lost very badly, but the 4th and 5th round my condition was better and gave her 8 counts and scored a lot of points with kicks and won the fight on unanimous decision.
You fights also abroad for example in Europe or in Japan ?
I fought in England, Holland and Belgium, I stopped before for 2 years because we build a new gym in Pattaya and had really no time to train, now the gym is finished and I get back in the ring. But in the begin of 2009 I will go to China and hopefully Japan
Did you already fight in Bangkok ?
Yes I fought queens birthday a few times and some other big events in Bangkok.
Who is currently the woman world champion of the Muay Thai in your category ?
I’m not to sure now because there are some many councils now… and also so many champions
Who do you want to fight it ?
A lot of people ! Some girls in Holland like Soumia, Krista Flemming. And I want a rematch vs Rebecca Donnely !
You are currently the owner of the Scorpion Gym in Pattaya, can you speak to us about your gym ?
In November 2007 we opened a new gym with 2 big rings and optimal ventilation. The area is very clean and quiet. All of our trainers are speaking good English.
With which you training and who are your coach ?
I’m training with my husband Somphot Thotla, he also coach me together with one of my trainers, Jaroenwit
You training every day, how happens your trainings ?
Morning running on the Buddha Mountain, skipping and do some back work a sit-ups, Afternoon pad work, sparring or clinching.
Is there much girl which is also training with the Scorpion Gym ?
Mostly man are coming to train but sometimes we have also girls (European). Local Thai girls are just training to keep fit.
Since how long is the Scorpion Gym open ?
Since July 2004
Is there much of fighters to the Scorpion Gym ?
Now we have around 8 fighters in the gym.
You know French nakmuays, former champions or new champions of today ?
I know just very difficult names…
And of woman fighting French ?
I don’t know French woman fighting.
Is your next fight it for when ?
Normal 20 December but because the airport closed we cannot go.. And the whole event is cancelled. So now 16 or 17 January in china
