TECHNICAL SEQUENCE WITH KAOPONGLEK “BLACK MAMBA” LUKSURATHAM

Kaoponglek was nicknamed “Mængmum Dam” (The Black Spider). This formidable technician had a very vicious boxing style, he put his opponents to sleep, often making them believe that he was dominated and then countering them hard with his superb elbow strikes and his terrible back leg.

This ring prodigy has fought an incredible 380 fights for 340 victories and won the world champion title six times.

In Thailand, he had an exemplary career. At 19 years, Kaoponglek won the famous Lumpinee stadium title in 1996 in 130 lbs by beating the legendary Lamnamoon Sor Sumalee by KO.

In 1995, Kaoponglek was elected “Best Fighter of the Year” by the prestigious institution The Sports Writers Association of Thailand!
This immense champion beat the biggest names in his category such as Visanupon Saksamuet, Namkabuan Nongkee Pahuyut, Orono Por Muang Ubon, Lamnamoon Sor Sumalee, Jaroensap Kiatbanchong, Chatchai Peesaithong, Wangchanoi Sor Palangchai, Den Muangsurin, Hansuk Prasathinpanomrung!

Kaoponglek moved to Italy in the early 2000s to pursue a second career abroad where he was WAKO, MTA and WMF world champion.
Black Mamba defeated the best foreigners of the moment like Johny Tancray, Satoshi Kobayashi (KO), Farid Khider, Rodolf Durica (KO), Fabio Pinca, Mickaël Piscitello (KO), Saro Presti, Abraham Roqueñi, Charles François (TKO), Andrei Kulebin, Morgan Adrar (TKO), Crice Boussoukou (KO), Mehdi Zatout, Sergio Wielzen, Azize Hlali (TKO), Dmitry Varats!
His toughest opponent, all career combined, was the legendary Chong Skarbowsky.
Kaoponglek and Jean-Charles Skarbowsky faced each other four times in titanic matches.

For SIAMFIGHTMAG the former ring star showed us a simple and effective technical sequence of pure Muay Thai. Professor Maurice Briere from Nakitail Fighting Gym in Toulouse is his partner for this technical sequence. Maurice Briere brought Kaoponglek to his gym for a seminar in January 2025.

1. KAOPONGLEK IS ON GUARD (GUARD ON THE RIGHT) FACING HIS OPPONENT (MAURICE BRIERE NAKITAIL GYM)

2. HIS OPPONDENT ATTACKS WITH A LEFT STRAIGHT (FRONT ARM) WHICH KAOPONGLEK BLOCKS WITH HIS RIGHT HAND

3. HIS OPPONENT TRIES AN ATTACK WITH A RIGHT HOOK

4. KAOPONGLEK BLOCKS THE ATTACK WITH HIS LEFT HAND

5. WITH HIS RIGHT HAND KAOPONGLEK HOLDS HIS OPPONENT’S FIST AND SENDS A LIGHTNING HIGH KICK WITH HIS BACK LEG. IF HIS OPPONENT HAS NOT HAD TIME TO PROTECT HIMSELF WITH HIS LEFT HAND, HE RECEIVES KAOPONGLEK’S TIBIA IN THE CAROTID, ON THE SIDE OF THE NECK, AND THE KO IS ALMOST GUARANTEED
