THE CAMP KEATKHAMTORN

This camp is situated in the district of Khanayao, in the northeast of Bangkok, in a small « soï » (alley) quiet which is perpendicular in the main avenue Nawamin Road. Previously this camp was in the district of Klongsamwan and was called “Tungsongtaksin” in reference to a camp of the South of the Thailand. But since 2004 he changed address and name to be called “Keatkhamtorn Gym” ( เกียรติกำธร).
The owner of this camp is Mr Tirawat Chukorn more known under the name of “Jakae”. Tirawat Chukorn is a lieutenant in Royal Police of Bangkok and it is a man passionate about boxing.

For several years Jakae is the official distributor of the brand ” Sandee “, one of older brand of equipment of Thai boxing in Thailand. Sandee is a small brand to compare with the famous brand « Twins » she produces especially for the Thai market. But today Sandee is also exported in Australia, and in Europe especially in England…

The star of the camp is the magnificent champion Nopparat Keatkhamtorn who gained five belts, in 2005 he gained the belt of Lumpinee in 126 lbs, in 2009 the belt of Lumpinee in 130 lbs and the belt of Thailand in 130 lbs, in 2011 the World Champion’s belt S1 in 140 lbs, and in 2012 the World Champion’s belt S1 in 160 lbs. Nopparat beat great champions as Khem Sitsongpeenong (twice), Seanchai Sor Kingstar (twice), Singdam Kiatmuu 9 (3 times), Orono Wor Petchpun (twice), Yodseanklai Petchyindee, Lerdsila Chumpairtour, Keaw Fairtex, Seanchainoi Toyotanarong and Dernchonlerk Sor Sor Niyom!

Other champions who made renamed by the camp are Yuthakarn Keatkhamtorn (Lumpinee Champion in 122 lbs, Thailand Champion in 126 lbs), Laemthong Thor Ponchai (S1 Champion in 126 lbs, Winner of the Tournament Omnoi in 142 lbs), Detsuriya Sittiprasert (S1 Champion in 118 lbs) and Khongpanlek Sakaomnoi (S1 Champion in 108 lbs). The Champions Denkiri 13reanresort (Lumpinee Champion in 122 lbs) and
Oledon Gratingdaeng (Champion of Boxing WBC Asia-Pacific) also stayed several years in Keatkhamtorn. The majority of the fighters of this camp fight for the promoter Songchai Ratanasuban, they fight a lot in the stadium of Radja and in the tournaments S1 (Tournament created by Songchai)…
About fifteen boxers trains permanently in this camp ” Muay Khao ” (specialist of knees). The techniques of knees are the big speciality of Keatkhamtorn. Here, his techniques are enormously worked. Just after the morning jogging as that of the afternoon the boxers make 1000 knocks of knees in punch bags. A very testing exercise because the fighters attack these endless series of knees having run 10 km!
The session in paos is not surely either, the rounds owed five minutes each instead of the usual three minutes. When in the traditional session of clinch she is made at the end of training and can sometimes lasted more than one hour!
The trainers of the Keatkhamtorn are in the world of the boxing for several years, they each acquired a big experience to form and train a fighters. Kainar (120 fights), was classified in the top 10 of the fighters of the Lumpinee, Rak (100 fights) is most to experiment, before coming to Keatkhamtorn, it formed champions as Buakaw, Kaolan and Namsaknoi, Farnakorn, the youngest, has all the same 320 fights in his meter, and finally Lae (250 fights) is a specialist of the techniques of counters and swervings…
KAINAR KEATKHAMTORN SAY « KAI »
This camp is clean, aerated, and maintains well, it includes eight punch bags, two boxing rings and a small place for the sale of material of boxing. The structure of Keatkhamtorn allows to welcome foreign boxers with no problem at all.
In the main building there is a kitchen where the boxers can eat and watch TV. On the first floor four rooms are in capacities of the foreign fighters, they are quite equipped with television and with access to internet, the floor of the top is reserved for the thais fighters.
Indeed, here is maintaining several years when this camp opened his doors to the foreigners and they are more and more numerous to come to train for Keatkhamtorn. Some foreign champions come moreover regularly prepared for Keatkhamtorn when they are of passages in Bangkok, such as the Russian Champion André Kulebin (12 titles of World Champion) and the Italian champion Chantal Ughi (World champion WPMF, WMA and WMF)!
For the foreigners the price is 1000 bahts a day which includes the trainings, the food and the accommodation. But if you envisage a long stay in Keatkhamtorn, the price is 25 000 bahts for month. The trainings take place every day except Sunday, rest days. The thais fighters got used to being next to the “farangs” (foreign) , and in spite of the hardness of the trainings, a good atmosphere reigns in this nice camp…
