In Thailand, the sport the most known after Muay Thai it’s the football. Although the Thailand have no international soccer team, many Thai are crazy of football!
All year round, the European championships of first division, especially the English championship, are broadcast on Thais TV. Thais follow with fervours the big soccer events such as the Europe Cup and of course the World cup!
The most appreciated foreign football teams are English, Thais adore the famous clubs of the English championship as Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United!
But they know very also the big European clubs that are the Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Juventus of Turin, Inter of Milan, Bayern Munich and Paris PSG!
The boxers who are accomplished sportsmen are almost all fans of soccer, and each has a favorite team which is often a team from of their native region. But they also follow with interest of the foreign teams, they are real football fan, fascinated, until wear the shirt of their team idol!

For example, in the region of Buriram which was one of the regions which produced the best fighters of the country, today, the Thai boxing is not very popular any more with the young people who prefer by far the football…
The city of Buriram invested millions of bahts in the construction of a magnificent soccer stadium. It’s at present one of the biggest and more beautiful of Thailand. And the local team, Buriram United F.C ., became the professional the most renowned club of the country which includes within his team several foreign players. In 2011, Buriram United F.C swiped everything by by gaining the Thai Premier League, the Thai FA Cup and the Thai League Cup, in 2013, again the Thai Premier League, the Thai FA Cup and the Toyota League Cup, a record!

So, the recruiters of soccer player who are always on the lookout for a good publicity to promote their sport don’t now hesitate to request stars of the boxing ring to integrate their club. In 2009, Manus Boonjumnong, the gold medallist in the Games Olympic of 2004 and Saenchai PK Muaythai Gym, the current number 1 of the Thai boxing in Thailand, were both approached by clubs of soccer. In 2013, a club of soccer in the region of Pattaya wanted to offer himself the favour of the champion Sudsakorn Sor Klinmee. And in 2014, the world star, Buakaw Banchamek, signed a contract with a soccer team of the region of Bangkok!
